The <strong>Italian Market<\/strong> &#8211; especially the <strong>Healthcare &amp; Lifesciences<\/strong> one &#8211; is <strong>complex<\/strong> and has <strong>local peculiarities<\/strong> such as in the Regulatory and Legal areas which are quite <strong>different from the other European Countries.<\/strong><br \/>\nPotential issue:<strong> inability to operate<\/strong> due to <strong>lack of knowledge<\/strong> of the new environment<\/li>\n<li>When the Company is a <strong>multinational that enters the new market as &#8216;start-up&#8217;<\/strong>, with organisational models mixed between <strong>Global<\/strong> and<strong> Local levels<\/strong>, the complexity is higher.<br \/>\nPotential issue: <strong>delays<\/strong> and\/or <strong>no compliance due to the adoption of rules and actions that generally<\/strong> have always been used in different contexts<\/li>\n<li>In addition, the area impacted by these projects is very extensive: the functions involved are <strong>numerous<\/strong> and<strong> belong to different teams<\/strong>, some responsibilities are externalized to <strong>third parties<\/strong> due to limited internal resources (especially at the beginning phase). <strong>Interactions are multiple <\/strong>and <strong>could be messy sometimes<\/strong>; to be effective they need to have a unique direction.<br \/>\nPotential issue: <strong>less effectiveness<\/strong> due to the<strong> absence of a single point of reference<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;36px&#8221;][vc_separator color=&#8221;sky&#8221; border_width=&#8221;3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>1. WHY<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]So, based on the above scenario, it is <strong>crucial <\/strong>for the Company <strong>to have an external support<\/strong> because Project manager:[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"standard-arrow bullet-top\"><ul>\n<li><strong>Has knowledge of the Healthcare &amp; Lifesciences<\/strong> <strong>market<\/strong> due to the direct experience with other Companies in the same sector<\/li>\n<li><strong>Knows how to liaise on different levels (global\/local)<\/strong> so as to bring them closer together<\/li>\n<li><strong>Knows how to identify the key requirements<\/strong> needed to launch the activity and <strong>how to guide<\/strong> the Company in their <strong>implementation<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Plays a reference<\/strong> and <em>a<\/em> <strong>coordination role<\/strong> between the stakeholders involved, so as to allow them to concentrate on the core tasks, guaranteeing the quality and output of the project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;36px&#8221;][vc_separator color=&#8221;sky&#8221; border_width=&#8221;3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>2. WHAT<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The key point<em>s<\/em> to pay attention to are:[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Set the Project Masterplan<\/strong> that:<\/h5>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"standard-arrow bullet-top\"><ul>\n<li>is <strong>designed together<\/strong> with the project leader and <strong>shared with<\/strong> the project <strong>team<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>is defined with the <strong>right balance of detail<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>shows an <strong>overall vision<\/strong> that takes into account activities at global, national and territorial levels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Identify the Core team <\/strong>that:<\/h5>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"standard-arrow bullet-top\"><ul>\n<li>is <strong>committed <\/strong>and <strong>believes<\/strong> in the project mission and objectives<\/li>\n<li>is able to <strong>work in a cross-functional way<\/strong>, based on a <strong>collaborative<\/strong> and <strong>team logic<\/strong> <strong>approach <\/strong>where each stakeholder shares its knowledge with the others<\/li>\n<li><strong>accepts <\/strong>the<strong> project manager as a &#8216;part&#8217; of the team<\/strong>, <strong>recognizing him\/her as a key player<\/strong> for the success of the project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Plan the SAL Meetings <\/strong>that:<\/h5>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"standard-arrow bullet-top\"><ul>\n<li>Have a <strong>well-defined frequency<\/strong> being at the same time,<strong> flexible<\/strong> according to the <strong>business requirements<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Involve stakeholders appropriately<\/strong> based on open points and critical issues to be discussed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Give a support in the content development with attention to<\/strong>:<\/h5>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"standard-arrow bullet-top\"><ul>\n<li>Guarantee <strong>quality of the deliverables<\/strong> in line with the project goals<\/li>\n<li>Produce <strong>contents<\/strong> that <strong>can be understood<\/strong> and <strong>used<\/strong> <strong>at every level<\/strong> (global\/local)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ensure the participation of all stakeholders<\/strong> needed to cover all the issues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;36px&#8221;][vc_separator color=&#8221;sky&#8221; border_width=&#8221;3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>3. HOW<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Based on the above points, we can identify <strong>two PMO approaches<\/strong>:[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5><strong>A. Traditional PMO: <\/strong>the <strong>Project Manager<\/strong> has a <strong>passive role,<\/strong> acting mainly as <strong>project coordinator.<\/strong> He\/she:<\/h5>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"standard-arrow bullet-top\"><ul>\n<li>defines the <strong>masterplan<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>schedules <\/strong>and <strong>manages SAL<\/strong> meetings based on a <strong>traditional approach<\/strong>, collecting information and keeping track of it<\/li>\n<li><strong>interacts with the team<\/strong> only during <strong>institutional meeting<\/strong> (eg. SAL, meeting ad hoc) or <strong>based on the client request<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5><strong>B. Active PMO: <\/strong>the <strong>Project Manager<\/strong> knows the market and the possible key issues and can have a <strong>proactive role<\/strong>, acting both as <strong>project coordinator<\/strong> and an <strong>expert member of the team<\/strong>.
